TYRECYCLING

Established in 2004 and based close to Elvington Air Museum just outside the city of York, Tyrecycling Solutions Ltd (TSL) is clear in its objectives.

• Manufacture a range of products from high quality tyre crumb produced from end of life tyres.
• Be a key contributor to resolving the environmental problem of car tyre disposal by recycling a considerable proportion of the 480000 (DTI figures) tonnes of tyres disposed of in the UK each year.
• To take the Company from its present output of up to 40 tonnes per week to an output of 400 tonnes per week within the next 5 years by the purchase/lease of additional equipment and the continued establishment of new markets.

Tyrecycling Solutions Ltd was set up in 2004, specifically to manufacture a dense rubber block weighing approx. 200kilos. These blocks are manufactured in a unique way (pressed in a hot press at temperatures up to 180C) using a high quality UK sourced tyre crumb from recycled tyres, as the main constituent.

TSL established links with several Companies; an equipment manufacturer with experience in manufacturing appropriate equipment, a rubber crumb supplier, a supplier of polyurethane (the binder) and a Business Advisory group with access to experts.

Tyrecycling Solutions Ltd are able to produce products which can be used as dock fenders, harbour protection, acoustic insulation materials for the building and construction industry, sea defence products and marine life protection, artificial reefs, matting of varying dimensions for the equestrian market, sports arenas, play surfaces and rubber mats for the 250K rental cars per annum.

The dense blocks have a potential use in the road construction business. Motorways are currently being equipped with environmentally unfriendly concrete central barriers and at a huge financial cost. TSL’s recycled clean tyre blocks are an ideal replacement.
